Gentle Pilates

DSCN2177 (2) (1)Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. It was created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise.

We created Gentle Pilates in 2011 as a specialised class for people with existing back/joint/mobility problems who were not able to manage a beginners level class.  Belinda has attended a Back Care Specialised Workshop with Body Mechanics in Ware and has eight years of great experience of working with clients who have all sorts of conditions and complications that cause them pain on a day to day basis.  This session also works very well for older adults, although we do need clients to be able to get down and up from the floor unassisted.

I feel the key is to move slowly, learn correctly and build confidence both in yourself and me as an instructor.  Pilates will greatly improve your daily quality of life by making your back and core muscles stronger.  Your back should be less vulnerable and more easily managed during difficult periods of spasm; and pain in general should happen less often.” Belinda Nuttall.

The class is usually on a Friday morning at 10.30am in Studio 2 at the Latton Bush Centre in Harlow and is 45 minutes long.  It is currently running both by Facebook Live, Google Video class and catch up videos that you can do in your own time.  All you need is a mat to participate.
