Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. It was created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise.
“In 10 sessions, you feel better, 20 sessions you look better, 30 sessions you have a completely new body.” Joseph Pilates.
Beginners Pilates is a mat based Pilates class for those totally new to Pilates. The basic key principles of Pilates are covered at the start of every six week term, and the exercises chosen are of a level appropriate for complete beginners. The key principles of Pilates are control, breath, concentration, flow, centering, and precision. The exercises chosen are changed each term, and apparatus is used from time to time to keep the routine fresh. The instructor works closely with each individual to ensure understanding of a neutral spine and how to set the core abdominal muscles for maximum benefit for the participant.
We usually have dedicated beginners’ classes on Mondays in Ware at 7pm and Wednesdays in Harlow at 7pm. Please check out our classes page for full details and venue info. At the moment due to the Corona Virus Pandemic classes are online via Zoom and we do not currently have any dedicated Beginner’s Pilates classes. We expect this to change in June 2021.
Classes can be attended via a Monthly Membership Subscription from £25 a month which gives access to 1 online live class a week up to £39.50 a month which gives unlimited use of classes, whether on Zoom or Face to Face and access to the recordings of the sessions via their membership account.
